Captain John Mason has been sailing Lake Michigan for many years. It started as an interest in exploring the lake and the surrounding shores of Wisconsin and Michigan which led to the acquisition of “New Adventure” in 2007. The beauty of the lake and its shores are so vast. “I didn’t realize it would take so long to see it all,” says Captain Mason. The Chicago skyline is a perfect backdrop for the rich blue waters of the lake. Being harbored in Burnham Harbor is a huge advantage. Not only being at the center of Chicago and close to everything; it takes just a few minutes to be riding the wind across open waters aboard “New Adventure”.
Captain Mason came to Chicago in 2000 from Texas. He was a Sales Account Manager for Williamson-Dickies Mfg. Co. 36 years. He graduated Kansas University in 1980 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Personnel Administration & Communications. He is an avid reader and when not on his boat; he enjoys a competitive game of tennis.
